‘Where’s Noah when you need him!’ Hiccup thought desperately as he dodged frantically. Caught by the Thorston Twins ‘Nope not dying like this too embarrassing.’ He called out to the girl Ruffnut “I’m really sorry about earlier. It’s just I really like my blood where it is ya know.” She smiled and the twins stopped they’re attacks for the moment while Hiccup panted. “Okay, if you wanted that why become a vampire hunter?” her bother asked. Hiccup was relieved talking he could talk all day fighting not so much “I’ve been meaning to clear that up. I actually wasn’t a hunter let alone Toothless’ partner when we first met.” The twins glanced at each other confused and Ruff called out “Nice try! No one just excepts vampires are real just like that doesn’t happen and the way you too worked together…” she trailed off as Hiccup started to laugh. “I’m sorry it’s just, I know right! How often do you just click with a total stranger? He asked me after to be his partner and well that’s actually your other answer. Not everyone who knows about vampires hunts them right? I…” Hiccup paused and looked to all like he was trying real hard not to cry “My Mom remember you were on her grave. I found her one day last year. Drained of blood, puncture marks the whole song and dance. I wanted to avenge her…”

         “Wanted?” the twins said surprisingly in sync for once. ‘Here goes nothing’ “I want to understand. I wanna understand vampires instead of fighting them. Or at least fight as little as I can.” Now the twins were laughing Tuffnut spoke up first “Wow, you’re a nerd! A really suicidal nerd too.” Hiccup crossed his arms and gave the vampire a look “The Nerds rule now in case you haven’t noticed. Tech’s everywhere and Brain trumps Brawn if you wanna get anywhere.” Tuffnut looked offended, but his sister just smiled saying “If you’ve got a pulse you mean. A brain can get you places sure, but the Vampire world is violence. However you slice it Brawn wins the day.”

         “Why?” Hiccup was genuinely confused and that confused the twins in turn “Why what? I was very clear!” Ruffnut seemed a little offended. “The violence?” he clarified. Tuff answered for her clearly getting tired of twenty questions “Look why don’t you do your hunter thing for more than a week and maybe you’ll figure out on your own Mr. Brain.”

    As they started to leave Hiccup called out to them one last time “I meant it. Even if it was to save my life that thing I pulled was pretty underhanded…” They turned back intrigued as to what on earth the strange hunter was on about now. “Don’t get me wrong you are really pretty Ruffnut, but that was really kinda dishonest of me since if I was gonna ‘spend eternity’ with anyone it would be a boy and no I don’t mean Tuffnut either” The poor twins this hunter was so confusing. What kind of hunter apologized for that? Ruffnut sighed “Yeah. Sure. Thanks. Apology accepted. Good luck being weird and try not to get eaten.” And with that the twins finally got to leave that weirdo behind. They didn’t even care they’d been fighting him a few minutes ago they’d look for food elsewhere.
