‘I have pissed off at least one deity.’ Somehow or another Hiccup was now tied up and at the mercy of the vampire he had a crush on. “There’s a Twilight joke in here somewhere.” Hiccup deadpanned. “And I’ll thank you not to make it.” suddenly the annoyed smirk Jack sported turned smug “Wait, so does that mean you’re hopelessly in love with me?” Hiccup scowled “Actually, I was calling you a creep.” Jack scowled right back “Whatever, cutie. Are you going to answer my question or not?” Hiccup looked a bit incredulous “Wait. That was a serious question? Is sparing someone really that weird? Is bite/stake repeat until your dead-dead the only thing that goes on here!?” at some point he’d begun shouting. Jack not impressed simply snorted “Of course not, Cutie. It is way way more complicated then that. Naturally. I asked about why you spared me.” Hiccup still having no luck with bindings ‘I need to work on this kind of stuff with Toothless.’ was the coherent thought amongst the increasingly pissed cussing running through his head.

Hiccup sighed collecting himself then in a meek whimper “Why do you want to know?” Jack looked almost hurt moved to comfort the boy. Who promptly head-butted him in the face and ran off as fast as a fishbone with tied hands could. “Not nice, Cutie!” it occurred to Hiccup Jack was sitting on him ‘Was that even five seconds?!’ Hiccup screamed in sheer frustration “How are you up already?!” Jack rolled his eyes and snorted “You don’t share a house with the Thorston twins without knowing how to take a head-butt. Or how to sit on somehow.” He tugged lightly on the ropes “Come to think that’s how I learned to tie someone up too.” This time Hiccup snorted “Understandable.”

“Am I going to have to tie your legs too or are you going to answer my question?” Jack got off Hiccup and pulled him into a not totally uncomfortable sitting position. Hiccup was about ready to scream ‘Why do I like this guy?’ and yes it was still like “You looked scared, alright.” Jack seemed taken aback “Did you go into vampire hunting expecting… what? Mindless zombies? Rabid animals? Did you fall though a time warp from the 80s cause we covered this with Lestat!” Hiccup screamed, “I don’t care how charming Tom Cruise was Interview with a Vampire wasn’t real! It’s different when it’s people.” ‘Never mind when it’s you.’ “Your not a monster or some glamorous ball of angst. You’re a person Jack.” Jack untied Hiccup almost immediately “Okay, then.” He practically pushed Hiccup back on to the sidewalk “Scoot, and for the record: Not Scared.”

As soon as Hiccup was out of sight scuffle ensued Jack wasn’t even sure if he was fighting a man or a woman at first. “Don’t suppose you’d be willing to just walk away?” He asked hopefully. To his surprise the hunter yielded, but kept her guard up. Now he could get a good look at her. Tan, blonde, green eyes, a strange spiked hair ornament on the end of her braid. She was likely several years older than Hiccup and probably the same amount she was younger than Noah. “Why did you let that boy go?” the mystery woman commanded. Neither of them let their guard down “He answered my question.” As if that explained everything. “Then why tie him up?” Jack smirked giving a snarky non-answer “The ways of the vampire are mysterious indeed.” She tilted her head to the side examining him thoroughly then declared “You put on this ridiculous show for everyone? Why not him?”

Jack was furious “Did the woman who apparently just sat around while a vampire had a kid tied up just call me all talk?” The woman looked ruffled “I called you on your bull ‘persona’ I’m sure you’re a lovely little vampire. Which brings me back to my question: Why let your meal go?” Jack wasn’t about to cooperate with the infuriating woman “Who said he was my meal. Which brings us back to my question. Just how long were you cowering behind some goddamn tree!” She finally relented, but you wouldn’t know it from her tone “I heard a scream. I get here you two are bantering (pratcally flirting) about the Twins and Anne Rice novels of all things! I’m not trained for that!” Jack dropped his defensive stance in sheer shock “Wait. What do they train you for? “The stake goes here. Have fun.” Is that what orientation is? You are a Camp hunter right? You have at least one vampire working with you. Right?” Jack began laughing, “I don’t even have a TV, but Buffy anyone? None of this ever came up? Frenemies? No?”

The hunter growled, “Why should I not stab you?” Jack gave her an annoyingly smug look “Because doing that now, it would be because I pissed you off. And you have more class than that.” The unconcerned way he turned to leave it seemed he really believed it “Who are you?” She asked. Jack whirled and with a great sweeping bow announced “Jack Frost.” She smiled despite herself “Stormfly. And you are one hell of a dork.” Jack faltered a split second then pretending he hadn’t heard her flew off with the same veneer of confidence he’d originally intended. When he’d gone Astird removed herself from a nearby tree stalking over to her partner. She hefted her crossbow onto her shoulder “That was Jack Frost?” she asked incredulously. “No idea.” Stormfly turned to the younger girl “Answers your question doesn’t it Princess? He’s involved somehow.” Astrid looked away “Yeah. Somehow.”

Well hope you like arguing, banter, arguing banter, and maybe a little argumentative flirting, because that's what this is! Pretty much nonstop. To be fair most of the people shouting have a reason to be pissed. Being tied up for instance.

I'm a little concerned this one and This Small Town were things I wrote last week. I haven't really had the time or distance necessary to revise them properly.

I'm drawing a bit of inspiration from of all things Nancy Drew computer games. Don't laugh. I cannot count how many times she's been crushed to death or something, because I couldn't solve a puzzle or hit the down arrow fast enough. The point is she's inquisitive, smart, sticks her nose in things thoroughly not her problem, nearly gets killed in the process, and is always very proactive both in surviving and in accomplishing her goals.

So tell me what you think! Wizard Hat, complete with Wizard Fire! Poof!

P.S. If you check out the Nancy Drew I do recommend them highly. However if you have a problem with horror avoid Shadow at the Water's Edge and The Ghost of Thornton Hall. If you love horror I recommend those in particular highly.
